I think Mark has access to the big dollar program at his work Rolling Eyes that's a nice touch.Some where I have a video of the guy who made his roll cage out of muffler stock(needless to say it almost cost him his life)

The only problem I see is the bar that the seats are attached to.

Later on when you want to go faster and need to move the weight rearward that bar is going to be in the way. You need to use extensions off the rear bar to support the seat backs. Makes everything more adjustable that way.

On my boat the seats are fixed to brackets in the floor. The tube on the cage is for securing the upper seat belt straps. I agree with the adjustable aspect but I doubt the sportjet will be going any faster. The cage will come in and out. The skinny water in the midwest requires head ducking in some cases.

I modeled the hull in Pro-E this last summer. Finally was able to put it to use while fitting the cage. I build scale model boats. Was planning on welding up a 1/5th scale version of the sportjet over the winter but plans changed. Actually leaning towards a mini.

El Didymo has a full cage under the driver and into the leg area and under the dash the only real section I need to add is the center bar.

cage in for racing and out for adventuring, I like how you think Mark Wink
(make sure you leave one bar in to hold the camera tho!

Looks good but maybe having 2 cross bars is overkill. Think you wanna keep that SJ as light as possible, every little bit helps unless your navigator only weighs 90 lbs lol

It sits at 50 lbs right now. Not too bad. You are right about the camera mount. No cage = no mount....hmm

The mini idea is to scale down to a 8-10 foot boat and power it with jet ski gear. I want him to build it two-up style with the driver sitting slightly higher and directly behind the navigator. The idea would be it would be really light, maneuverable and easy to get unstuck. Relatively cheap and available drive trains too.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I bet the Force 90 out of my jet boat (glass ultranautics jetstar) might be the first victim. Although he does have those two Kawasaki stand-up rotting in his yard...Dual engine design anyone? Smile

Lead, we just need to get the helmet cam hook up!

Either that or just put it on a ski pylon sort of thing. We do a lot of ducking...I worry about a camera sticking up at all to be honest.

You know Harrison that Glen L makes a set of plans for a 12ft jet boat using a Jet Ski engine and pump wouldn`t be that hard to make it out of alloy it would be so light it would get up and hide from Marks boat in the tight stuff.The roll bar looks great Mark super job make sure you get your patent number on it Cool Cool Cool
